What is your favourite sandwich type?

Hey everyone,

Some of my colleagues and I were chatting over lunch the other day about our favourite sandwich types — and it got us wondering what really counts as a sandwich!

Can it be an “open” sandwich where you add toppings to a slice of bread or can it only be two pieces of bread with a filling? And how do you cut said sandwich - are you a fan of the triangle or just go for a straight cut down the middle?

As we are a community of food lovers, I wanted to open the floor to you and ask what is your favourite sandwich type and what are your go-to toppings/fillings?

Personally, I like a triangle sandwich with brie, rocket/arugula and cranberry sauce but I’m also partial to a classic jambon-beurre with gherkins (and that’s only for the savoury options!).

What about you? 🥪

I can’t wait to be inspired by your replies!

Chat soon,

Emilie

I am very simple guy. All I want is some cheese and meats, heated in a panini grill.

    So, you're more into warm/hot sandwiches @Rakib

Do you have a panini grill? Would you recommend getting one? (I'm asking because I have a small kitchen with limited counter space...but I do love a nice crisp panini!)

Panini grill is great to have, its warms up really fast and you get nice and crispy bread in no time.

But if you have limited space, You can just put the sandwich in the pan with some butter and get almost the same result.

White bread, nice crust, butter and nutella. Thats all. I'm as simple as @Rakib

Ok, love your idea...how about dipping that Nutella sandwich in coffee?!

It's something I've always done, since I was a kid - the coffee softens the bread and contrasts beautifully with the chocolate-hazelnut flavour 😌

It is definitely lunchtime - this is making me extremely hungry! haha

If I have a sandwich out (so not a normal lunch activity), my go to, is a fish finger sandwich. I like it with nice bread and proper fish inside and some tartar sauce! Very decadent (I know!). YUM!

Happy Friday to you all 🎉

    Here is my top 3

    •  Sourdough baguette + rosette de Lyon + crisps
My all time favourite sandwich, sourdough is my favourite kind of bread, Rosette de Lyon + Crisps is a nice combo
Adding crisps to a sandwich seems kinda weird but believe me, you have to try it.
    • Any baguette + raclette + ham
Our classic go to with @Flo on wednesday lunch
    • Bread + chocolate
Afterschool snack when i was a kid

    I didn't know you and @Flo were colleagues - that's brilliant!

I love rosette de Lyon, though I'm not sure if I could locate some in London (I need to do some research!). I had buttered bread with chocolate as a kid too - we should definitely go back to doing that one as an afternoon snack 😋

In the UK, we have a thing called a "meal deal" (it's not offered everywhere, though but you can find those at Sainsbury's) which consist of a sandwich/wrap/salad + a drink + either a dessert like a chocolate bar or a bag of crisps - at £3,95, it is often a very sweet deal indeed (and the crisps end up in the sandwich most of the time!).
