GMWAs stopped installing in Azerbaijan - Error - unavailable in your country

Hi All,

One of our customers has a number of device deployed in Azerbaijan, these are deployed via WS1 and have a number of GMWA set as required.

At the start of October they stopped being able to install any of the GMWA on new enrolments. When they attempt to manually download them from managed play they receive error -  unavailable in your country

These GMWAs have been working fine for over a year and continue to work on existing device however new enrolments are no longer able to download any GMWA.

Is anyone experiencing a similar issue in Azerbaijan?

@Google are you aware of any changes preventing GMWA in Azerbaijan?

Thanks

Tim

Hi Tim,

what do you mean with GMWA?

The app developer can define app only being available in specific countries. So the developer might have changed this part.

Do you have the link for the issuing app (from play store)?

If the app is allowed to be installed in Azerbaijan but you see this issue still, it can be that the country of the device is not detected correctly. Most likely caused by proxy or VPN. So, was something like this taken into place?

Hi Moombas,

GMWA = Google Managed Web App

https://support.google.com/googleplay/work/answer/9147423?hl=en

These are published via the managed play iframe via WS1

There have been no changes to the in country deployment and this is impacting multiple device models and Android Versions.

Thanks

Tim

Hmm, i know this from the iframe but the shortage didnt ring a bell to me.

But why web-apps shouldn’t be available in a specific country is a bit weird.

@Lizzie heard of that anywhere?

Hey @Tim_Hardy,

Nice to see you in the community.

I’ve had a look into this and there is a ticket opened fairly recently for something very similar to what you are describing here. The good news is that a fix has been implemented. I would recommend trying to republish the app (perhaps making a slight edit to the existing app) to see if this is now working for your customer?

If you can let me know that would be great. 🤞 Thanks so much (and thanks for the mention @Moombas),

Lizzie
