Intune - Android Enrollment Default Profile

Hi,

We’ve noticed that our Android devices are no longer enrolling automatically, which is resulting in the default profile being applied from the auto-created policy in the Google Zero-Touch customer portal. I’ve reviewed the portal settings, and the correct profile is still assigned by default.

This process previously worked as expected.

Many thanks,
Joe.

Hey @JoeTucker27,

Nice to meet you and welcome to the customer community.

I can't think of a particular reason why this would be happening, so it will probably need a deeper dive into your account. Are you aware of any changes recently that might provide a bit more of idea? Also, have you contacted your zero-touch reseller to see what they say on this yet?

@Michel, @Moombas, @Flo, @Rakib @jasonbayton as you are very familiar with ZT wondering if you might have any thoughts here?

Thanks so much,

Lizzie

Hi @JoeTucker27 , welcome to the community!

Looking at the tags i'm assuming you are using the bulk enrollment button in Intune to connect to Google zero touch, and that created the default profile you are now having issues with. Correct?

If so, did you check the default assigned profile in Google zero touch itself by logging in to the portal via the following url: https://enterprise.google.com/android/zero-touch/customers/?

It should list a default config here I believe (I'm not a fan of this integration so haven't checked it in a while):

Second advice I can give, remove this integration. Its horrible for exactly this reason. I have never had any luck with this integration and neither do my customers. So we tend to stay away from the bulk enrollment button at all and do it " manually".

With that I mean disabling that integration by unlinking Intune and Google zero touch and creating a profile in Google zero touch by yourself, directly in the Google zero touch portal. Thats this step in the Intune manuals: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/intune-service/enrollment/android-dedicated-devices-fully-managed-enroll#create-configuration-in-zero-touch-enrollment-portal

Hi Michael,

Yes, that's correct, I've checked and confirmed it's set as the default configuration.

Thank you, I have noted the option for the manual method of enrolment.

Many thanks,

Joe.

In that case I would highly recommend getting rid of this connection and unlink it. I've seen it cause a lot similar issues in other tenants.

Hi @JoeTucker27 ,

Only one question : do you have another default profil that apply to your devices ?

And welcome.

Hi Kris,
Just to confirm, we currently have only one profile configured for assignment to our Android devices.

Many thanks,

Joe.

Hi,

I am guessing you have connected Intune with your ZT account. Please un-link the account, if linking Intune with ZT, all the devices coming from ZT are set to Android Enterprise corporate owned fully managed to even though you have set something else as default in your ZT console.
