Question: Best practices for publishing a private/LOB app via Managed Google Play

Hello Android Enterprise Community,

I am looking for some guidance regarding app publication for our organization. We have developed a custom/line-of-business (LOB) Android app that we need to deploy internally to our managed devices, but I want to make sure we follow the proper procedures.

Could anyone share the recommended workflow or best practices for this? Specifically:

  1. Is it better to publish the private app directly through our EMM console (using the Managed Google Play iframe) or via the standard Google Play Console?
  2. What are the key things to keep in mind regarding Organization IDs to ensure only our targeted devices can see and download the app?
  3. How long does the initial publishing/approval process typically take for enterprise private apps?

For context, we are currently using [Insert your EMM provider here, e.g., Microsoft Intune, VMware Workspace ONE, Ivanti] to manage our fleet.

Any advice, documentation links, or tips from your own deployment experiences would be highly appreciated!

Thank you,

Alaul

Hey @tfsbd

  1. I prefer creating and publishing directly directly from the Play Console. So you don’t have to touch anything in your EMM after the first publication.
  2. Organization ID must be managed by few people and trusted people
  3. The private publishing is so easy and quickly. The most important, once your click on create the App, the step 2 is to activate Enterprise Google Play, then you don’t answer anything , you dont have to for a private App. It take a couple of minutes before your app is avalable for publishing.
