Hello everyone,

I hope you are doing well.

Thank you to all of you have been taking the time to provide feedback via our recent surveys, this is so helpful to our product team. As the survey topics have been on quite an array of areas, I hope you are seeing things come up that resonate with your interests.

Today, I’m posting two more community very short surveys. They are unrelated topics, so I’m separating them out to prevent confusion.

Below, we have a short survey related to AFW# enrollment:

Background to the survey:

We are currently seeking to understand the usage and specific business requirements regarding the AFW# enrollment method for Android devices. Your feedback will help us better understand how this method is utilized within enterprise environments.

This survey should take less than 3 minutes to complete.

What is AFW# enrollment?

AFW# is a short identifier (such as afw#EMM) that is entered into the Google account sign-in field during the device setup wizard following a factory reset. This method allows the device to automatically download and install a specific Device Policy Control agent without requiring a personal Google account to be added to the device first.

I shared everything in the survey but we use it only for troubleshooting when for some strange reason ZT or even QR enrollment doesn’t work, to see if at least this manual enrollment works.

Regarding the question in the survey about additional comments to enrollment:

  • Would like to have the abilitiy to skip as many screens during enrollment as possible (i guess i already raised that already) to have an as short as possible enrollment.
  • I also would like to have a possibility to set time/date when the device states that the used wifi has no internet (so for some weird reason can not reach an NTP to set the devices time/date correctly) as we have seen this sometimes for Wifi only devices being off for a longer time and also for some tightened Wifis.

Hey @svenaan,

Great to meet you and thanks for your reply.

Yeah, it’s a very short survey 😀. If you answered ‘no’ or ‘unsure’ to the first question that would be the end of the survey, as the next couple of questions ask more details.

If this isn’t an area that impacts your deployment, that is actually really good feedback in itself, so thanks for taking the time to check it out. I wonder have you also taken a look at our other survey on app distribution to unmanaged devices? If not it would be great to hear your thoughts there too.

Thank you,

Lizzie

Only time I’ve had to use it is when a department bought this Samsung interactive displays which are like giant Android tablets. I asked my reseller to enroll them in zero touch but they couldn’t. They reached out to Google who said this kind of device wasn’t supported, they only enroll tablets, phones, etc. not TVs. So I had to use AFW# to get them enrolled. Not a huge deal. I kinda hate these displays anyway and I’m not gonna let anyone else buy one.

Thanks for contributing so far everyone!

Similar to the other survey this is a reminder to submit your thoughts if you haven’t already done so by the end of the week please.
