Zebra HC50, HC20, TC21 - Zero-Touch enrollment isn't available. Check your internet connection and try again

We experiencing issues where we currently are unable to proceed with the enrolment of our Zebra devices to our EMM (WSOne).

When we boot the Zebra Handset we get an error
Can't finish setup. Zero-touch enrollment isn't avaialble. Check your internet connection and try again.

We've tried from different network but getting same error. Their was another post about the same issue affecting Samsung S series devices which apparently samsung has fixed.

Not sure how we get that fixed for the Zebra handsets

    Hello JoelEmpeigne,

Thanks for your question here, I hope this has been resolved for you, but if not I've got a bit more information for you.

The prompt "Check your internet connection and try again" is true to its error meaning that the internet connection could not be fetched due to it being non-existent or too weak. It is also possible that the access point/router settings is blocking such devices from connecting. You said you have found various connections? then did it also fail under a mobile hotspot? not sure if it is possible to try the built in cellular connection. Do you happen to have other OEMs within your environment and do these other OEMs enroll fine using the same network?

Also, if you haven't already I would  raise this issue directly with Zebra Support as they can work on this issue with Zero Touch Support.

I hope this is helpful. It would be great to hear how you get on.

    Thanks,

    Lizzie

Looks like this is more of a Zero-Touch eligibility/firmware limitation on those Zebra models (HC50, HC20, TC21). If Zero-Touch isn’t working, you’re not stuck, most admins just switch to StageNow or OEMConfig to get the devices up and running with their EMM.

If you’re using an MDM like Scalefusion, the process is smoother since it supports Zebra’s enrollment methods outside of Zero-Touch. You can push configs, apps, and restrictions once the device is staged, no need to wait on Google/Zebra patches.

Might be worth checking if your reseller can confirm Zero-Touch support for those SKUs, but in the meantime StageNow + MDM gets the job done without holding up deployment.

The devices you mention have the AER status, so ZTE should work without issues. I haven't heard issues on these devices recently so it should work.

did you check the profile from ZTE to Zebra? Can you confirm it works? Have you tried working with a hotspot just to rule out netowkring issues (even if you tried multiple wifi networks, most corporate networks block all kind of things you could need).
