What does your current desk setup look like?
Hey everyone,
I have just had a small work setup upgrade: I got a standing desk! Now, I can alternate between sitting down - which I do when I have to use my second screen - and standing up - which I do for meetings.
In terms of the rest of my desk setup, I have a mouse and an ergonomic keyboard, my trusted notebook where I write everything and my coloured pens (I like to categorise ideas by colour).
I find that limiting the amount of objects and things on my desk helps me focus - an organised workplace helps me organise my thoughts!
What is your setup like? Is it different at home than in the office? What is the thing you love about it and what do you think could be improved?
You can take inspiration from a previous conversation about workplace setups (and meet Lizzie’s desk buddies).
Chat soon,
Emilie

In the office we also have a desk which can be switched from standing to sitting and back but to be honest, i personally don't use it.
And the only things i need is the laptop and the monitors, no pen or paper, just some small ones for notes but this most likely is going to be obsolete (getting a lot of dust on it 😁).
At home we just changed the work room but still having only a fixed "self made" desk (as i never can buy what i would like to have). But there i prefer to work on my private PC on a UWQHD single screen and so on as most of the systems i work with are cloud based this is no problem.
My desk itself is quite clean, so only the PC/laptop, monitor, mouse, wireless headset and keyboard (and since we reworked it at home, enough room to place a folder on it if needed in private case).
The only "disturbing" thing there are the 2 Android guys I got from Google staying on my PC 🤣And i don't need to mention as a passionate gamer (even time for that is limited a lot because of family and so on), that i like the room being darkened having a keyboard with lightened keys.
The overear headset there also keeps a lot of noise from around away, especially when I'm able to listen music on side.
This all helps to focus on what i have on screen, not getting disturbed by anything around.

Thanks for your reply Moombas!
I understand what you mean about not really using the standing desk option - it’s something I have to do consciously. When I get a bit fidgety, I take it as my cue to stand for a little bit.
I’m very much loving my paper and pens but, in this digital age, that’s just me being an analogue dinosaur 🦕
What would your dream desk look like? Is it something you feel you could build yourself?
Would love to see your little desk buddies too, see if they’re related to at Lizzie’s 😊
A darkened room for gaming sounds essential for an optimal experience - what is your favourite colour for your keyboard keys? For me, a good keyboard is one that makes a nice sound when I use it (some keyboards sound super irritating!).
So, do you listen to music while you work? If so, what kind of music is your favourite one to focus?
I’m always looking for recommendations 👀

I don't have a dream desk, Fully fine with i made now, the less things are visible, the better. So on the one we made now, the printer for ex. is hidden in a big drawer, so you just slide it out when needed.
Just the one from the London Café meeting Stinus brought to me and the one from PES 25 in Zurich.
Normally the keyboard is dark blue lightened and often needed keys are in red (might differ from application to application) and on the extra keys i choose colours of the programs which are started with them.
The sound is not very imortant as because of headset and sound from game or music or so doesn't let me hear the keyboard but it's a logitech G-series so the keys are relatively loud.
Regarding music, also very wide spread but most likely something like Nightwish, Within Temptation or even just combinations of metal or rock like viking metal folk, violin metal or viking vocal metal mixes and so on. Very depending on what i need at that moment.
