Hello everyone,

The wait is over - the first headset built on Android XR - the Samsung Galaxy XR - has launched.

This is an exciting step forward for our ecosystem, further extending the familiar Android experience across a blend of physical and virtual worlds.

As mentioned during the Samsung Galaxy XR launch event, Android Enterprise management features will be coming to Android XR and we are excited to support this new form factor.

We want to make you aware that at the time of initial release of Samsung Galaxy XR hardware (October 2025), Android Enterprise device management features will not be available, but will be activated through a software update at a later date. *As of 7th April, 2026 - Android Enterprise device management features are available - read more here

We know many of you are keen to explore this area more and we are actively working to launch and support enterprise features. We will keep you updated here in the Customer Community when we have more information to share.

If you are interested in learning more about the Samsung Galaxy XR headset, you can find out more at Samsung.com.  For more information on the Android XR platform, resources can be found here.

Thanks,

The Android Enterprise Team

*Post updated - 7th April, 2026 - AE device management features are now available.

This is great to hear @Kris, I'm pretty excited to try it out. Do you think there are particular use cases that you'd love to use it for?

First, i just hope i can try it !

Training (initial and ongoing) in a field like that of my company, where risk is present at the slightest mistake. With this equipment, it is easier to multiply exercises!

There is also the area of prevention for all employees! But we need to be able to manage the equipment, training or prevention Apps remotely with the EMM.

    @Lizzie  you confirm ?

    Hey Lizzie,

Why was AE postponed? It's baked into the OS and would flag during GMS certification if it was a handheld.

I heard that: "If Jason cannot buy it in UK, they won't support it"

Excellent news @Lizzie ! Thanks for sharing this. Hope that it will arrive in Europe soon, but Samsung already confirmed it will not come to the netherlands or belgium anytime soon 😐.

I've had my hands on it a few weeks ago and liked it, but it all comes down to how it can be managed and what apps it will support to make this a success. Curious to see what it will bring us! It already has the price advantage over its biggest competitor.

OOoo I hear these are like gold dust at the moment, so you are one of the lucky few to test it out.

When you say 'it all comes down to how it can be managed and what apps it will support' is there a particular experience you'd like to see?

I forgot to reply to this one, sorry @Lizzie !

What I meant is that, from a business perspective, you need app developers to build apps that will make this product a success. For example, an app that teaches students how to operate a machine, or how to perform open heart surgery. I've seen it with other vendors as well, this will only be a success as long as there are good apps to use on an XR headset.

Is the intent on adding AE to Android XR to also start 'certifying' XR devices over time in the AE Device repository? Very useful to drive XR adoption in Enterprise context (with full capabilities)

OOo this is an excellent point @Frebel. Just to clarify, are you referring to whether this would be in the Solution Directory and part of AER?

I too could see this as being very useful. It would be great to hear any benefits on your end for having this, if you are happy to share.

    Thanks,

    Lizzie

Yes, we often refer 'internal' customers to this page to get a first split on selecting the right type of device for new use cases. So for future XR use cases this would be helpful as well.

    Hey everyone,

I hope you are having a good start to the week.

Just a quick note to say that there will be a special edition of The Android Show specifically on Android XR today, 8th December 2025 (you can watch the recording after if you can't make it). Although they won't specifically be speaking about XR and Android Enterprise, it will still be a closer look at the latest from XR - so I thought you might be interested.

Regarding XR and AE, I'm working closely with our folks internally, so we will make sure you have the updates as soon as they are ready to share.

Enjoy the show! 😎  Plus, it would be great to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks,

    Lizzie

We do have some VR-headsets that are administered not with AE but with AOSP.
