Android XR at Augmented World Expo: New Devices, Deep Dives, and Tech for Good!
Hey everyone,
Our team spent the last few days immersed in the latest XR breakthroughs at the Augmented World Expo, one of the largest XR developer conferences. We’re excited to share the key developments and insights we’re bringing back from the show floor:
1. XREAL AURA Reservations and Enterprise Inquiries are Open! The next generation of spatial computing powered by Android XR has arrived. Unlike pass-through headsets that isolate you with cameras and screens, AURA consists of wired XR glasses that allow you to blend digital experiences with the physical world. This ensures users maintain direct, natural eye contact and full situational awareness while interacting with crucial enterprise workflows. Learn more at xreal.com/aura or contact the XREAL business team for high-volume inquiries at business@xreal.com.
2. Samsung Galaxy XR now available in the UK: We are also thrilled to announce that the Samsung Galaxy XR is officially coming to the UK, with pre-orders now available and devices shipping from July 8th. This launch significantly opens up the Android XR platform for European enterprises looking to deploy immersive, AI-native workflows. If your organization is based in broader Europe (outside the UK) and you are planning an XR rollout, let us know in the comments below so we can connect!
3. Insights from Google: Google held two keynotes during Augmented World Expo:
- The Android XR Vision: Juston Payne and Hugo Swart from our XR product team took a look at where Android XR is today and gave a preview into the platform’s future roadmap. Watch the full presentation here on YouTube.
- The Future of Enterprise XR: Sean Ginevan from our team joined Qualcomm and XREAL to discuss exactly how XR is transforming enterprise operations. Watch the full discussion here on YouTube.
4. Reimagining Healthcare: Samsung & Abbott joined forces to demonstrate the real-world value of XR. By integrating Galaxy XR technology into a recent blood drive, they showcased how immersive experiences can fundamentally transform the blood donation process. Read more about this initiative on the Samsung Newsroom and see the project featured in the New York Times.
5. Awards (who doesn’t love an award!): Our team took home two Auggie awards, one for Google Maps XR and the other for XR Blocks for Gemini, which lets users vibe code XR applications. Thank you to all of the judges that voted for us! You can check out the full list of honorees here.
We are just scratching the surface of what’s possible and are excited to share even more later this year. Where do you see the biggest potential for XR integration in your own projects? Do any of these updates align with your roadmap?
