Highlights from The Android Show I/O Edition 2026
Hello everyone,
We’ve reached that time in the year when Google I/O is fast approaching and like last year, rather than squeezing all of Android news into that one event, we thought it deserved its own show. For the second year running, The Android Show I/O edition is back!
If you weren’t able to tune in live, no problem you can watch it in full [here]. Take a look below for some of our highlights.
What is The Android Show?
The Android Show is designed to showcase the latest innovations across the Android ecosystem. Although it is not specifically enterprise focused, we feel many of the features and updates are things you and your team could enjoy exploring.
Key Android Show Highlights
This year was packed with updates. Here are just a few highlights:
- Gemini Intelligence: We are infusing Gemini across the entire device experience—from your phone and watch to your car and glasses—to put real intelligence to work for you.
- Security and privacy updates in 2026: AI-powered protections and advanced safeguards to ensure that every user is shielded from the evolving landscape of threats - from updates to Live Threat Detection to enhancement in preventing banking scams. More details in this Android security blog.
- Googlebooks: We announced a sneak peak of our new category of laptop devices built with Gemini’s helpfulness at its core, delivering personal and proactive help when and where you need it. Check out more in this Googlebook blog (and here) or visit our website at googlebook.com for more details.
We had a lot of fun here in the community watching The Android Show live with many of you (and eating virtual popcorn). If you’ve seen the show or have read the updates in our keyword blog, it would be great to hear what you are looking forward to most (and potentially what you would be keen to explore more, from an enterprise point of view).

Thanks so much,
Lizzie
