[Action needed] Policy setting default change: EnterpriseDisplayNameVisibility

Date updated: 10th Feb 2026

Description:

A new policy setting, first introduced in May 2025, now allows administrators to control the visibility of the EnterpriseDisplayName on the device (eg. on your lock screen).

We want to make you aware that the default behaviour of this policy setting if left UNSPECIFIED, is changing:

To maintain a hidden state, you must update your policy configuration:

  • Required action (if UNSPECIFIED): Explicitly set the policy value ENTERPRISE_DISPLAY_NAME_HIDDEN.
  • If no action is taken, devices relying on the old default will begin displaying the enterprise name.

This change is currently scheduled to come into effect from March 2026 [please note this date is subject to change and we will keep you updated if this date changes at all].

Thank you,

Android Enterprise Team

Hello,

Is this still scheduled to happen on 9th of February ? Are there any instructions regarding what will change when EMM is Intune ? Does not look like Intune is pushing this key at all.

Thanks @Michel, this is very helpful 😀

@gacocea are you able to see this in Intune?

Thank you all for responding to this.

I tried the mentioned setting by @Michel  but it seems to be setting up the key:

"value": "com.android.devicerestrictionpolicy.enterprisedisplaynamevisibility_true",

I was expecting to see a way to configure exactly:

ENTERPRISE_DISPLAY_NAME_VISIBLE

Either way I may be wrong here and the settings in Intune are just internal for Intune and not exact values of what is being configured on Android.  If this is the case unfortunately there is no way to know if Intune implemented the new key or not.

Hi @gacocea

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/intune-service/fundamentals/whats-new#new-settings-available-in-the-android-enterprise-settings-catalog

Hide organization name

  • The General > Hide organization name setting supports corporate owned single use dedicated devices. Previously, this setting was only supported on corporate-owned devices with a work profile and corporate owned fully managed devices.

and

Intune now showing tenant name on lockscreen | Android Enterprise and ChromeOS Customer Communities - 9894

The policy should do exactly what it's built for (untested yet).
