What's New with Cameyo: July & August Release Updates Highlights

Summer has been incredibly busy for the team! We’ve rolled out a wave of fantastic updates across July and August designed to make your Cameyo environments more secure, cost-effective and globally accessible.

Whether you are looking to optimize your cloud spend or expand your deployments to new regions, there is a lot to cover. Let’s dive into the main highlights from the last two months!
 

🌟 Spotlight on July: Global Expansion & Cost Optimization

Our July release was a major one, focusing heavily on expanding our global footprint and giving administrators tighter controls over their environments. Here are the key takeaways you should know about:

• Massive Region Expansion: We’ve expanded regional availability across both GCP and Azure! You can now deploy in new GCP regions like Seoul (Zones A & B), Jakarta, Warsaw, Madrid, Milan, and Queretaro. For our Azure users, Paris, Santiago, and Canberra are now available.
• Save Costs with Graceful Shutdown: We’ve introduced a new Graceful shutdown option that allows admins to automate the shutdown of idle VMs, boosting both your security posture and your cost efficiency.
• Granular DLP Controls: Security is always a priority. Admins now have dedicated Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls to restrict both upload and download activities within the Cameyo environment.
• RDS Shadowing: Need better visibility? You can now shadow currently-running Remote Desktop Services (RDS) sessions, giving admins more direct oversight of user actions.

🚀 August Highlights: Infrastructure & Security Enhancements

Building on July's momentum, August brought some excellent architectural and quality-of-life improvements:

• BYO-Azure without Public IPs: Aligning with the security standards already available for BYO-GCP, you can now provision Bring-Your-Own-Azure environments without public IP addresses using the !CLOUDIP=0 PowerTag.
• GCP Upgrades & Alerts: We added support for new GCP machine types (N4, C4, C4A, and C3D) and rolled out an automated alert system for GCP "stockouts" (capacity constraints) and stuck VMs. This means your IT team gets notified immediately if a VM gets stuck in a "Starting" state.
• RDS Grace Period Control: To prevent unexpected server reboots caused by Microsoft's standard 120-day RDS grace period, we've introduced the !RDSGRACE_RESET=0 PowerTag to give you full control over your server lifecycles.
• Expanded Character Support: We’ve resolved underlying encoding issues, meaning Cameyo now fully supports file names with non-ASCII characters, including Japanese!
