HP 11A G8 EE says camera not found

I have several (at least 20 found today) HP Chromebook 11A G8 EE chromebooks that are suddenly saying no camera found. Camera doesn't work in any application. Have tried resets, recovery, and power washes. Permissions are all good and standard across the enterprise.  The issue only occurs on this particular model of Chromebook.  What am I missing?

Hi ​@Tracy Lewis thanks for getting in touch. You are right to ask fellow customers whether they are experiencing similar issues - however in order to get you up and running as soon as possible in the interim, we would advise that you raise a support case so that our dedicated team can investigate the specific instance and better advise.

One thing to try yourself for troubleshooting purposes is testing another ChromeOS version. You could:

  1. Move 1 test unit to a different OU in your Google Admin Console.

  2. Change the release channel for that test device to Beta or LTS (Long Term Support), or test rolling back 1–2 versions.

  3. If the camera lights up on a different version, this could suggest a ChromeOS kernel bug. Although this is not a known issue at the time of writing this reponse.

Either way this would be a case for the technical support team but could be good detail to check to further support the ticket you raise.
