    Following up on yet another great webinar, here are the questions asked during the event and their respective answers:

    ​@ian_spa asked:

    Q: It was always my understanding that Chrome Flex devices wouldn't auto-enroll. Is that something that's going to change in the future?
    A: While "zero-touch enrollment" is unique to native Chromebooks, users can achieve equivalent efficiency using automatic enrollment. By using a Linux utility to inject enrollment tokens or credentials into the installer, organizations can automate the placement of devices into specific Organizational Units.This option is already available for admins and you can read more about it here.

    ​@MarcP followed with:

    Q: Is there an available API for the certified device list of devices to assist in automating deployment scripts?
    A: An official API does not exist because OEM naming conventions for hardware vary unpredictably.

    ​@ian_spa  then added:

    Q: How often is the certified list updated?
    A: The list is updated monthly with every release, with an average of five to ten new machines added. Google proactively decertifies older devices that have reached their 10-year support lifecycle and encourages organizations to reach out via the community if they encounter large quantities of a specific machine model that is not yet certified, as this helps prioritization of future certifications.

    And the final question of the live session came from ​@MarcP, who queried:

    Q: How do we manage the BIOS update on Chromos flex?
    A: The system utilizes the Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS) to check for and automatically apply firmware updates during boot, provided the OEM participates in the service. An API endpoint on Chrome OS Flex checks whether a device has firmware updates available from the OEM on every boot. If it does, it'll automatically install the BIOS update and inform the user that the firmware has been updated and ask them to reboot the machine. That feature was introduced last year. Documentation regarding supported OEMs and the technical implementation of this feature is outlined in this document.
