Question

Android Auto and COBO

Hi All, just wondering if Android Auto will work for fully-managed (COBO) Samsung devices enrolled into Intune, or COPE for that matter?  Is there anything official from Google on this?  Does anyone have any advice on getting it to work or any gotchas along the way?

I am commenting to follow, we have mostly COPE but should be nice to know what the answer is.

A couple of years, i test COBO (Wsp1 & Intune) with Android Auto, the operation was as expected.

With COPE, it is good with personal Apps, i have to study about that for Private Apps that ask navigation to Google Maps...

I've been using COPE and fully managed devices with Android auto for years. They work, no matter what MDM. You do need to make sure that you don't block the Android auto app ofcourse. And it does not work with VPN active on the device.

When using Work profile: Contacts are shown when they call you if you enable bluetooth address book sharing, but gemini can't access work contacts if you want to call those during driving. Work app notifications are also shown, but apps are not.

I'm not aware of official documentation so can't share that with you. But it works.

Thanks for replies.  Have managed to get hold of a test device (and car) now.  Android Auto works fine when not enrolled, but give this message when enrolled fully managed:

You must have blocked Android Auto in your Intune Configuration

I managed to get this working in the end by installing Android Auto, Google, Google Maps and Speech Recognition & Synthesis apps via Intune/Google Managed Play.   Without these 4 apps explicitly installed, it just does not work.
