[Community Team Update] Welcoming Emilie to the team...
Hello everyone,
And thank you Lizzie for the introduction!
My name is Emilie.
Here’s a little bit about me:
- I come from a social media background, where I worked for about 10 years, give or take 🤓
- I speak French fluently and I am learning Spanish
- I absolutely adore dogs and have been volunteering in that field for 8 years 🐶
- I started a podcast last summer 🎙️
- And I eat pizza every Friday night - a nice ritual to kickstart the weekend 🍕
Please let me know a bit about yourself so that we can get to know each other, such as:
- What languages do you speak?
- What is your favourite food?
- How did you get into your current career?
- What was your first piece of tech?
Looking forward to speaking with you.
Chat soon,
Emilie
Welcome Emilie!
- Sadly I only speak English 😞. But I just started learning Spanish. Currently on a 55 day streak in Duolingo 💪
- Favorite food is Jamaican ox-tail. Tastes like home 😁
- The last two questions are actually connected for me. I don't remember my first piece of tech. But the first tech that I remember being genuinely excited about (apart from video games) was my first smartphone........the OG Android phone, T-mobile G1. That's probably how I got started in mobile and Android.

Thank you, Corey 🎉
You’re well on your way to speak Spanish very soon - I’m on day 468 on Duolingo 🦉
I’ve never tried ox-tail before. But I’ve had Jamaican Jerk Chicken and it was absolutely delicious! What other meat would the ox-tail compare to?
I love that your first (THE first) Android phone led you to a career in mobile and Android; you have gone full circle!
Do you still have your T-mobile G1? It had all the coolest features of the time combined in one phone 🫶

468 !🤯 I'm aspiring to be you one day!
Yeah Jerk Chicken is definitely in my top 5 Jamaican foods. Ox-tail is like a braised beef. Outside of Jamaica I'm sure you can find some really good ox-tail in parts of the US, UK, and Canada.
I'm not sure if I still have that G1 actually. I remember finding it a few years back. But I may have had to toss some things to make space in my tiny apartment 😭.

You'll be on day 468 in no time, I'm sure - time does fly!
I'm sure I could get my hands on some Jamaican ox-tail here in London; maybe that could be my new weekend plan?
I live in a tiny space as well and it's not easy to manage what stays and what goes - whereabouts do you live?
