What app would you recommend to your friends?

Hey everyone,

Last week, I came across a previous community conversation about top apps, which I thought was an interesting conversation considering how there is an app for (almost) everything!

And, over the weekend, I decided to try a new app called Too Good To Go. I know it has been around for years, but I had just never bothered to download it.

Now, what changed is that a new bakery opened in the neighbourhood a few weeks ago. It is part of a chain of bakeries that can be quite pricey, but offer a nice range of delicious baked goods.

I tried the app, ordered a bag of baked goods, and it was a great experience: very smooth and easy and I got a very interesting deal. This also prevented wasting food!

A lovely new weekend experience, indeed 🍞🥐🧁

What app have you recently tried and would recommend to your friends and to the community?

Curious to read your thoughts and recommendations!

Chat soon,

Emilie

Oh my what a question! I have so many apps that I use on a weekly, if not daily, basis that this question is like asking which is your favorite child!

I think the one that gives me genuine enjoyment is Be My Eyes. An app where a person with a visual impairment can connect with you anonymously and ask a quick question about something in front of them - such as what colour is this item of clothing, what is the label on this tin, can you read the exp date on something etc etc. Calls last 10 to 20 seconds but can really help that person out.

      Thanks for your reply BenMcc

It's hard to make a choice, isn't it?! There are so many great apps out there!

I'll check Be My Eyes out - sounds like a fantastic way to help out and it must be quite a relief for visually impaired people to be able to rely on the kindness of strangers 💕

By all means, feel free to recommend more awesome apps!

A friend recommended I use the Polarsteps app to plan my road trips. And it's the first time I've found a truly practical app for this purpose !

Thanks for the recommendation Kris - road trips always sound exciting...until you have to plan it all out 😅

Where have you been on your most recent road trip?

I fulfilled one of my dreams: I visited the American West for three weeks. The most beautiful trip of my life.

I really love planing road trips 😁

Too good to go is awesome. We've used The Fork recently for local restaurant recommendations also with some decent offers.

    Others:

    Obsidian for notes

JuiceSSH for convection to my servers

    LocalSend for cross-device file transfers

    Rustdesk for RC

Solid explorer is a great file manager with network share access

Glad we agree on Too Good To Go jasonbayton

I've heard of The Fork but haven't tried it yet - I definitely will give it a go now :)

And thank you for the list of apps you recommended; it's interesting to get your insight!

First that comes to mind is vaultwarden, but it needs a self hosted server. It's an awesome password manager.

ooh I forgot one, the PizzApp+! I use this a lot for making my own pizza dough (and will add it to the tutorial Emilie_B asked me to write as a follow-up for the sushi tutorial 🤣 )
