Will the VERO Line continue with Googlebook? I’m writing from my Acer VERO 514 Chromebook, and everybody is amazed by this device everytime I show it :)

Acer advised that yes these devices will continue, but with a different naming convention. Acer has transitioned the core values of their Vero line (high post-consumer recycled plastic content, TCO 10 certification, and transparent carbon footprint reporting) directly into their main commercial devices, such as the new Chromebook Enterprise 514 (CB594-2). Look for these environmental certifications on their standard enterprise spec sheets.

Does the EOL of all new Chromebooks will be set to 2034? So 7 years to go max?

Hi @damiencarbonnel There are more details on the outlook for Googlebook for Enterprise and ChromeOS here: https://www.androidenterprise.community/product-updates/the-next-evolution-googlebook-3069

Basically ChromeOS will continue to be supported until 2034 and the 2 types of devices will be supported for enterprise from 2028.

However from now until 2028, Chromebooks remain our recommendation for all enterprise deployments and these devices will all be support until 2034.

I’m about to puchase a Lenovo Chrome 14M9610 (for my corporate device because I need to postpone buying a Googlebook), and I see that AUE policy goes to June 2036. Means what? It will update to Googlebook OS ?

🌐 Googlebook & the Transition of ChromeOS

Q: Is Googlebook the end of Chromebook?

A: Absolutely not. Googlebook represents the next evolutionary stage of Chromebook, unifying the security foundations of ChromeOS with the high-performance application stack of Android. Standard Chromebooks will continue to be our primary recommendation for enterprise deployments throughout 2026, 2027, and 2028. ChromeOS itself will remain fully supported and updated through at least 2034. More information outlined here.

Q: I heard that corporate Google Account logins won't be fully manageable on Googlebooks until mid-2027, and full device management won’t arrive until H2 2028. Is this correct?

A: Yes. The initial consumer rollouts are underway. Limited corporate management and profile configurations will begin arriving in late 2027, with the full, centralized Google Admin Console policy management set for H2 2028. For this reason, we recommend standard Chromebook and Chromebook Plus models for active corporate fleets today. More information outlined here.

Q: Where can we purchase the 32GB RAM consumer Googlebook configuration? I only see 16GB models online.

A: Acer advised that the 32GB models are currently produced and distributed. While the initial regional EMEA rollouts are focused on the UK, Germany, and France, please reach out to your local Acer account team directly to secure 32GB allocations for your corporate pilot programs.

🖥️ Chromebox & Kiosk Deployments

Q: What is the status of Acer Chromebox devices?

A: Acer advised you are in safe hands. Acer is fully committed to the Chromebox ecosystem. Their current product lineup (including the newly launched CXI6, CX7 with DDR5 RAM, and the fanless CXM2 Mini) is locked into their hardware roadmap and guaranteed to be available for purchase through at least 2028. More details will follow in 2027/2028.

🛠️ Hardware, Security & Accessories

Q: Is there upcoming support for NFC-based FIDO Authentication (such as physical security keys) natively on Chromebooks and tablets?

A: Acer advised that while standard Chromebooks do not feature integrated NFC modules, they have been closely investigating NFC hardware integration to support passwordless FIDO login. This capability is being engineered into their upcoming Googlebook hardware pipelines.
