DPC Extras issues

Hello,

I hope you're doing well. I'm reaching out for assistance on an issue I'm experiencing with DPC extras on ZTE devices.

  1. Is there a method to implement DPC extras without using a QR code? It appears that even when configuring ZTE with DPC extras, some functionalities do not activate. Additionally, several design elements seem less than optimal.
    1. For instance, if you do not use a QR code before selecting the language—which, ideally, should be sourced from the DPC—there's an option presented to transfer data from another device. This option seems inappropriate for a company-owned device. Could this be improved?
  2. The next screen prompts a WiFi connection. Using a QR code skips this step, but users still need to manually confirm the WiFi connection. Could this be streamlined?
  3. Is it possible to enroll a device as an admin, reset it, and have the DPC extras from the QR code persist on the device until it connects to WiFi and verifies its management status?

It seems everyone is adding devices to ZTE for security reasons, particularly for stolen devices, yet the reliance on QR codes adds unnecessary complexity. Could this process be made more user-friendly?

I think your second "1." was mentioned here already as this really looks like a bug and doesn'T make sense. (to be honest i think i haven't seen that yes on our Motorola (A14+) devices yet)

"2." Would make sense in my opinion but most likely a "feature request" to Google ( Lizzie again ;) )

But could also be different on enterprise devices like Zebra where you use StageNow barcodes which are more powerful than the ones from Google itself.

"3." would require a seperate part on the memory not getting factory resettet, this can be found on enterprise devices like Zebra devices but not on consumer devices like Samsung and so on. And maybe mattdermody could tell you what kind of information can be left here as I'm lack of knowledge what kind of information is kept there.

Regarding userfriednly: I mean the only thing a user needs to do on a device which is in ZT, is to establish a network connection (Wifi or SIM) and then just tap thru the screens "continue" without the need of doing anything.

I fully agree that even those screens (i mean really all of them) should be configureable to be skipped in DPC (i opened a tread about that here already somewhere some time ago) but out of that, why is that not userfriendly?

Turn device on, get it online, (tap few times same button) -> tada device is setting up itself thru the connected MDM.

You can persist pretty much anything in the Enterprise directory on Zebra devices including EMM agents using Custom DPC. With that in mind if was enrolling a Zebra device I wouldn't be considering ZTE anyway since "Zero Touch" is a misnomer and I can enroll devices in a much more streamlined manner with Zebra StageNow.
