Playstore private app search
Hello AE community,
Happy new year,
Our users encounter a problem when looking for private apps on the playstore,
Apps doesn't appear until you type their full name,
For exemple: we have an application called "Conformite"
When typing "Confo", the app doesn't show up
When typing "Conformite", it works
When looking for a public app like teams
Typing "Tea" Teams shows up
Typing "Teams" Teams shows up
We created a playstore category to make this search easier,
Is there something to do on the playstore console ?
I can add screnshots if needed
Regards,
Batlac

Thank you again for your help jasonbayton and Rakib!
Batlac, I've heard back from our team :)
Firstly, they would like to wish you a Happy New Year as well.
They've explained that the behaviour you are seeing is expected for Private Apps in Managed Google Play, and unfortunately, there is no setting in the Play Console to change this.
Public apps (like Teams) benefit from Google Play’s global search algorithms, which include matching, auto-complete, and popularity ranking. Private apps, however, are indexed only within your specific Organization ID.
Because they lack the global search data and ranking signals of public apps, the search function often defaults to requiring an exact match (or very close to it) to locate them. Please let us know if this is helpful and if you have an update to share
Thanks and speak soon,
Emilie

I can ask our team to look into this but, in the meantime, I'm going to tag a few of our most knowledgeable and helpful members to see if they can help out: jasonbayton, Michel, Kris, Moombas, turquet, mattdermody, Rakib 😇

Sorry Emily, this'll be an internal Play issue to investigate, Batlac is already working around it with complete name search 🥲

Hello Emilie,
Thank you for your reply, very clear,
For a work around,
We are using playstore app category to make easier to find our private apps,
Adding keyword to the app description might help if you don't have a lot of private application. When searching for the keyword in the store, every app using this keyword will appear.
For exemple, on our "Conformite" app:
If we add "Confo" in the app description, then the Conformite app will appear when typing "Confo"
Thank you everyone for your help
