Re: [Action needed] Policy setting default change: EnterpriseDisplayNameVisibility
Hi gacocea https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/intune-service/fundamentals/whats-new#new-settings-available-in-the-android-enterprise-settings-catalog Hide organization name The General > Hide organization name setting supports corporate owned single use dedicated devices. Previously, this setting was only supported on corporate-owned devices with a work profile and corporate owned fully managed devices. and Intune now showing tenant name on lockscreen | Android Enterprise and ChromeOS Customer Communities - 9894 The policy should do exactly what it's built for (untested yet).6Views0likes0CommentsRe: Outlook and Teams with PSTN calling in work profile
Microsoft confirmed that the Teams app will include a fix with an update in February, early March. This update will only focus on the phone number normalization bug (+49 2756 26767 is becoming +492027562026767). Still having discussions with MS support on the call handling to hand over calls to the personal caller app on Android Enterprise devices.39Views2likes1CommentRe: Outlook and Teams with PSTN calling in work profile
Hi everyone Just today I had a longer discussion with a senior escalation engineer from the Microsoft Outlook team. We did not figure out a bug or an Android Enterprise system behavior yet but so far: I have to split my single support case to work on both topics explicitly: Outlook call "routing" in the work profile and Teams handling the phone number formatting. We discussed mainly on the first topic and as far as we understood so far is the following: Outlook uses a protocol intent within their App (using "tel:"). As soon as MS Teams has a PTSN number configured the MS Teams app get's the system intent call and as it is the only App "answering" in the system request the OS decides to hand over the intent to Teams app. If the MS Teams app does not answer on the tel intent. The system will search the personal profile and requests the call from the system app. Can the others confirm that the behavior is different between PTSN number configured in teams and no PTSN number ? I don't know why there is a difference between URI intent and the native code implementation. This can maybe answered by the teams from Google ? I will try to configure some app protection policies for Outlook and test whether this changes the behavior. There are some policies to only allow specific dialers etc. Due to holidays we paused the case with that agreement and will resume after 7th January.38Views1like1CommentRe: Android Enterprise work profile does not support wearOS yet
Currently this is the only wear OS enabled App in our Organisation I am aware of. For this specific App it would be a dedicated group of users ("lone-workers") to enable. However, we are interested to spread wear OS devices when other use cases come up. For example health awareness apps or indoor navigation (find meeting rooms for example).9Views2likes0CommentsRe: Android Enterprise work profile does not support wearOS yet
Hi Lizzie Specifically we do have an Android app with wear OS functionality. Our device fleet is using COPE to allow employees personal usage of those devices. If we issue watches to employees using those devices they must install the app on the personal profile to use the watch app on their watches. We always point out to employees to install corp. apps into the work profile but we would have to advise the same users to install this specific app into the personal profile because of the watch app. If users are not using their smartphone for personal use, they usually don't need to setup a Google account on those devices, we would have to instruct them to register an account, set it up on the smartphone and download the app from Google Play. Which is a very demanding process when it comes to hundreds of users. Samsungs offers a solution with Knox Manage, but in this case we cannot use the Google ecosystem for syncing data between phone and watch as the watch is in a single use mode. Our app devs would then need to implement their own "sync" infrastructure - which is also not a quick thing to do.59Views1like0CommentsRe: Samsung Devices: Can't call from a personal app
Hi Emilie_B thanks your updates on this, highly appreciated. I am not very familiar with the tags and code names on Android builds. Can you elaborate "fixed with Q3 build"? The latest build ist SMR 2025-12-05 (android-16.0.0_r4)? Thank you! Br Daniel183Views1like1CommentRe: Samsung Devices: Can't call from a personal app
We received 2 new reports on this issue today. One user had the issue a couple of weeks ago and after the single reboot after the issue appeared he hasn't had this issue for almost 6 weeks. Today he told us that the issue started to appear more frequently and can only be resolved by a reboot. Escalating this to Samsung isn't as easy as it may sound because we don't have users who are willing to stop using their phones and collect bug reports and everything over some days. Without the bug report Samsung case will always be closed. 🤪28Views1like0CommentsOutlook and Teams with PSTN calling in work profile
Hi today we raised a case with Microsoft for a specific work profile issue with their current Outlook and MS Teams implementation. I wanted to share this here, maybe there are some other customers/admins facing this issue. Our org started to move from Cisco to MS Teams PSTN calling some month ago and everything was fine, but I assume an update to either Outlook or Teams app was published and the issue started. Scenario: COPE or BYOD MS Teams and MS Outlook in work profile MS Teams has a PSTN line configured (either mobile or landline) Open Outlook, search for any contact and try to start a call to a mobile or desk number. The OS does not ask whether you like to use the phone on personal profile (as it did the last couple of years 😅) - it will hand over the call request to MS teams! You cannot decide to make the phone call with your Phone app :-( This breaks almost all use cases for our users. Even worse: A phone number like +49 123 828282 is transfered to MS teams app in a broken format and the call is made to +492492012320828282 💥😔 Compared to Google contacts in the work profile: The app is always handling the call request to the phone app on the personal profile and incorporate the MS Teams app. 🤔 Anyone else here in the community experiencing this issue? Thanks! DanielSolvedRe: Samsung Devices: Can't call from a personal app
Hi Emilie_B thanks. Looked into our current configurations: "Search work contacts and display work contact caller-id in personal profile" = "Not configured" (which means "allow") "Data sharing between work and personal profiles." = "Device default" Dialer app is NOT configured as a AE system app We have this issue on a very little amount of devices (in our case we speak of about 9.000 Samsung A-model devices, 99% COPE). We can't accept a solution where the boundaries of data security is lowered (thus not enabling cross-profile sharing). In the last couple of weeks I only heard of 3 new reports, after a device reboot the issue has been fixed immediately. Maybe it will come back, maybe the specific users will never see it again. Configuring the dialer app into the work profile on COPE has some unwanted side effects I guess. Two separated call histories for example (I assume). However, it has been quite a while since I played around with this scenario... Doesn't sound right for me though!59Views1like2CommentsRe: Samsung Devices: Can't call from a personal app
Oh wow, thanks everyone for participating and sharing the information. Would be helpful to hear which update we need to apply the fix the mention. As previously noted, we never managed to fully catch logs and everything because the workaround to reboot the devices was easier for endusers than having the issue and work with us to get all the data needed for further investigation :-/ On our side, I haven't received any further issue reports for weeks now. Seems to be fixed already?!403Views1like1CommentRe: Google Messages App: SMS to shortcode not able to send
My messages app is on messages.android_20251006_02_RC00.phone_samsung_openbeta_dynamic But we tried the steps on multiple devices where we saw the issue before and it was solved after for all of our test devices (3-4). Unsure about the actual version on those device, though.47Views0likes0CommentsRe: Android Enterprise work profile does not support wearOS yet
Hi old thread but (still) the same situation. We are looking into an app development with an WearOS app for emergency situations. We are still testing, but my technical understanding of how the ecosystem with WearOS is built, the companion app will now show up on a paired watch if the app is installed in the work profile of an Android Enterprise enrolled device. Is this correct? Any workaround or deployment paths available / known for this? Talking about use cases for watches in the enterprise this should be a big concern? Maybe Lizzie jasonbayton ?143Views1like0CommentsRe: Samsung Devices: Can't call from a personal app
Hi Emilie_B raised a case with Samsung but the affected users are not willing to wait for any bug reports to be taken but a quick resolution (device reboot) to get the phone call feature back on their mobiles. So far we did not catch a scenario where the debug policy was applied and the issue re-raised. The case has been closed as we were not able to report the requested data :-( But, we did not receive any more reports about this issue in about 2-3 weeks now. For now, nothing else I could provide unfortunately. Daniel1.7KViews1like1CommentKnown issues with Android System WebView 139.0.7258.160?
Hi everyone we have some reports about OAuth2 Login issues on Android devices with Microsoft Conditional Access rules. Some device (very small amount) are not able to login to some specific apps where the OAuth Login is being made with an embedded Browser session. During investigation we found out, that all users are on Android System WebView version 139.0.7258.160. Users without issues are running 139.0.7258.158. We don't know whether this is the issue but I wanted you asked whether other admins here are having similar issues in the last couple of weeks. Are there any known issues about certificate based logins with Android System WebView currently? Thank you! Kind Regards Daniel299Views0likes1CommentRe: [Feedback] App installs: share your experiences & suggestions
We use COPE for almost all devices and what we often see is that app updates in the work profile are not successful because of these: App updates in personal profile are not automatically applied. Sometimes you have to guide users even to install all pending updates before you can complete the work profile app updates. App updates in work profiles are paused because there is a incompatible version of the same app installed in the personal profile. (I can remember the exact error text).54Views0likes0CommentsSamsung Devices: Can't call from a personal app
Hi everyone we received some reports from our users in the last couple of month that suddently the phone app on COPE devices (Samsung A-series) starts to show "Can't call from a personal app" - Your organisation only allows you to make calls from work apps. Workaround: Reboot the device. For most of the reports this workaround has to take place once and the message is gone forever. A very small amount of devices starts to show this message again after a couple of weeks. Rebooting is resolving the issue again. Any idea of how to prevent this? Even emergency calls are not possible if this error is appearing! Does anyone else have seen this behavior? Raised a case with Samsung today. Thanks! The Google Messages fix has been released! Steps to recover: Delete the message thread with the short code number Clear cache of Google Messages app Restart the Google Messages app and start a new thread for the short code number The message is now being transported correctly.237Views0likes0CommentsRe: Google Messages App: SMS to shortcode not able to send
Hi, thank you Moombas No it is not feasible as a general workaround. My personal device (Samsung S25) has migrated the Samsung Messages App into the Google Messages app a few month ago. The Samsung messages App is no longer installed on the device. I must install a "real" 3rd party app to bypass the Google Messages app. For my own personal issue this may be fine but not as a corporate solution. Lizzie Any news from your side on this? Thanks a lot!149Views0likes1Comment
