We have all our devices on Samsung Knox; I would like to try using Android Zero-Touch enrollment as well. Is that possible?
We got all our new company Samsung phones added into Samsung Knox. None of the distributors we work with are Android Zero Touch partners; we've asked them to join and they probably won't any time soon. I read that there's been some effort to unify Samsung Knox and Android Zero Touch, although in many cases it still seems like EMMs have better support for Android Zero Touch whereas Samsung would prefer you use their in-house EMM. We would like to try using the Android Zero Touch enrollment as well. Unlike Samsung, it seems like I can't even register my own customer account. So my questions: is there any possible way to get just a Zero Touch customer account set up, with no devices added, when none of the resellers I actually bought a device from are Android partners? Also, is there some way I could get some of our Knox enrolled devices to use Zero Touch?jtw6 hours agoNew member2Views0likes0Comments"Your administrator has not given you access to this item" - Intune issues with Google accounts and previously used apps
Basic set up: Managed Google Play + Intune Devices all set up as "Corporate-owned, fully managed user devices" Policies are set to allow all apps from store and to allow other accounts to be installed on devices. GSuite individual Google accounts with corporate email addresses signed in to all devices to allow for things like Photos backup. Problem: When migrating a user to a new device, some apps cannot be installed. When a user is signed into Google Play with their Google Account, any app that is already linked to their Google Account from their previous device (for example: WhatsApp, Samsung Notes, Translate), cannot be installed with the error "Your administrator has not given you access to this item". If I sign the user out from their Google account, install the app and then sign them in again, it all works fine, but this should not be necessary. It seems like the problem is stemming from the Play Store not liking the fact that the corporate Play Store profile is trying to install apps that the Google account has already signed in to previously. Any thoughts on fixes? Thanks.csuke24 hours agoNew member11Views0likes0Comments2FA sign in error at Android Zero Touch portal
I am the IT admin/owner of our Android Zero Touch instance, and I am trying to log into the portal to view and interact with devices associated with our organization. Our zero touch instance is linked with our Intune tenant, and is working correctly. I keep getting the error that my sign in was rejected because it doesn't meet my organization's 2 step verification policy and to contact my IT admin for more information. I am that IT admin, and I can't login. My login information is correct, I have our account ID, and I'm just trying to get in touch with someone to help with the login. I can't even login to support portal to get help, so I had to use my personal Google account to post this.fzhang108782 days agoLevel 1.5: Cupcake20Views0likes0CommentsCompliance project for Android?
Hi all, For Apple (iOS/MacOS ) we use the macos security compliance project tooling (https://github.com/usnistgov/macos_security#readme) for mapping compliance guidelines. A short summary: The macOS Security Compliance Project (mSCP) is an open‑source framework that provides automated, customizable security guidance and baselines for macOS, producing documentation, audit checklists, configuration profiles, and remediation scripts. It supports major security standards, including NIST SP 800‑53, NIST SP 800‑171, DISA STIG, CNSSI 1253, CIS Benchmarks, CIS Critical Security Controls v8, CMMC 2.0 Levels 1–2, and the Netherlands BIO baseline. I haven't found such a project for Android, as anyone aware of such a project that maps security guidelines to available API's for Android Enterprise? Hey As I saw that bunch of question have been left unanswered on the expert forum is no one at Google monitoring the feed? I just wanted to post it here as the conversations seem to get more traction here. Is there official thread where feature request could be sent, I have been supporting mobile device management over way over a decade and in that time I have seen all sorts of things and there would be some features that would help greatly in managing enterprise environments with Android. Couple examples: It would be great if there would be a way to deploy some contact numbers to the devices on device address book, such service desk or onsite support number. This is especially needed for dedicated devices which usually do not have any email accounts associated with them and getting common contacts deployed to all devices is quite labor intensive with the current tools. Another one is the OS update management, which is lacking quite a bit, especially as I need to do a comparison to Apple and how their new OS update delivery works, it just makes the Android one lack in features. I would really want to see that on enteprise owned device we would have an override for downloading the OS updates via mobile data, as this is huge pain point when wi-fi networks are not available on some sites, and if the end users are not the most technically savvy, it would allow us admins to at least keep the fleet to some what up to date, obviously there still would probably be some issues, but the current status of the OS update policies is lacking. Also not sure should the update installation recognize on going phones calls when it is set to do the updates in automatic mode? As initially when we tried to apply it we got bunch of notifications that the updates where triggered during a phone call. /rant Thanks,Does the bluetoothSharing setting override the bluetoothContactSharingDisabled setting?
If a policy is configured with: DeviceConnectivityManagement > bluetoothSharing=BLUETOOTH_SHARING_DISALLOWED and bluetoothContactSharingDisabled=FALSE will the first setting override the second, thereby preventing contact sharing via bluetooth? If so, it could be good to have that documented like it's done in other places (e.g. "This setting is ignored if {SettingName} is set to X"paulMiradore2 months agoLevel 1.5: Cupcake23Views0likes0CommentsChrome OS + Crostini: The Missing Bridge to Android Development
Hello Community, I recently read an article about connecting a Windows PC to an Android phone, which got me thinking: we need a similar focus on connecting Chrome OS (via Crostini) to Android devices. Since both Android and Chrome OS are Google products, the integration should be seamless. If Google wants to grow Chrome OS adoption, developers are the ideal first target. However, making it easy for developers to build Android apps on Chrome OS must be a priority, and currently, there are significant friction points. The Technical Blockers My Android development on Chrome OS has been halted for over a month due to persistent issues: ADB Debugging on Managed Devices: My managed Chromebook (I am the admin) has the "Enable ADB debugging" toggle locked. Despite a month of searching, I haven't found a fix. Connection Instability: Both USB and Wi-Fi debugging work intermittently and then fail. I have tested this with a modern Android 15 phone and an older Lollipop tablet; the connection fails on both, pointing to an issue on the Chromebook side. USB File Transfer: There is a known issue transferring files from Crostini to USB devices (requiring a workaround of copying to the Chrome OS files app first). The Strategic Picture Google should not depend on Microsoft Windows for Android development. Chrome OS is already a high-quality product—I use it daily. For example, upgrading my Crostini VM from Debian 12 (Bookworm) to Debian 13 (Trixie) was a pleasure and required no reinstallation. This stability proves Chrome OS is a serious development platform, not just a "cheap" alternative. Addressing the "Aluminum OS" Rumors There is a current campaign discrediting Chrome OS, citing rumors about a new "Aluminum OS." I believe these rumors are misinterpreted. Rather than dropping Chrome OS, it appears Google is aiming for the high-quality device segment. Regardless of naming conventions, Google is walking securely, step-by-step, from a browser to a full OS. Conclusion I strongly advise Google to continue its efforts in making Chrome OS a high-end development platform. The community is involved and patient (a major quality of developers!), but we need these bridge issues—specifically ADB debugging and USB file transfers—solved to fully unlock the potential of the ecosystem.15Views0likes0CommentsManaged Configuration in Google Messages
Following Samsung's decision to start sunsetting Samsung Messages (and recommending Google Messages) on newer devices we are now evaluating GM across our estate. Devices are managed by Intune and we can see we can push App Config for RCS Messages and Archiving via the Config designer but after opening up GM I get the "Use Gemini" in my face. Currently we don't use Gemini on our devices - infact we remove it. I have found the option under Settings in GM to Hide the Gemini button but it would be good if we could push that config down with the App......searching round not found anything to date - any thoughts?BigMatt2 months agoLevel 1.5: Cupcake39Views0likes0CommentsSet up a new Android Enterprise domain in Intune/EMM when an old-style Google Account is still connected
Hi, I have a situation similar to this older discussion - situation as follows: My EMM is MS Intune. Managed Goole Play Store was set up in April 2024 before the new method of creating Android Enterprise admin accounts on a managed Google domain - using a normal Gmail account This Gmail/Google account was forcibly deleted in the last month, presumably for inactivity, as the first linked discussion describes. Only the final termination email was ever sent to the recovery email, no other warnings were received. Recovery was not possible (it just said that no recovery methods were set up, even though there was a recovery email - hence the warnings...!) and now the account shows as nonexistent rather than potentially recoverable, although it's less than the quoted 30 days that recovery is available. I have seen (Community Manager) Lizzie's helpful posts and advice from a couple of years ago, including this article describing the potential for having support migrate the EMM bind from one account to another. However, I don't yet have another account to migrate to, since I would be moving from an old Gmail account to a new managed domain account - which I don't yet have, as I can't sign up as a 'new customer' to Android Enterprise within Intune, because the old bind still exists, and I haven't found anything to tell me how to sign up other than going through the EMM. I want to keep the old bind active so it doesn't break existing devices, even though I think that's what's stopping me signing up to Android Enterprise in the new way. Removing this existing orphaned bind will break everything, and Lizzie's info in other posts has suggested that the bind will stay mostly-working if left alone, whereas removing it will trigger retirement of all devices. MS/Intune support don't seem to be aware of the possibility of contacting Google support to migrate a bind, but even if they were, I don't yet know what to tell them (as I have no new destination account, of course). They just advise me that it will need a new account and re-enrolment of all devices, which I'm hoping to avoid. I know this is convoluted, but that's why I was hoping for help. Is there a way to get a new Android Enterprise admin account set up, using the new managed domain method, without breaking the existing bind - and then to migrate the bind across? Hi, We own and manage an asset management solution used by various clients. Recently (in the last 12 months) we have implemented an MDM/EMM type of solution that uses the Android Management API to enrol/register devices and assist clients with their asset management processes and managing risk through the Android Management API. Now, from an Android Management API perspective, we understand the permissible usage policies and believe we do comply with the requirement. When we originally started the endeavour, the quota on how many device can be registered was a default of 500 devices. We recently noted when some clients try to enrol/register devices, that during the set up process on their devices, that it states that they have reached the usage capacity limits. When we checked the project(s) associated with the clients, most have between 200 - 380 devices enrolled/registered which is below the 500 device qouta. More recently, we noted that the Android Management API permissible usage policies were changed/updated on 29 October 2025 from a default of 500 devices to having to request an initial quota of 500. This means that that enterprises or projects we have recently set up would fail. We submit a request for a quota increase on earlier projects and a request for an initial quota on a new project. This was more than a week, or 7 working days, ago. We also submit an application to become and Android Enterprise Partner on the 12th of November 2025 which we received a response with additional questions about two days later which we responded to promptly. The challenge here is managing client expectations and frustrations in not being able to enroll/register and additional devices, with one client looking to enrol/register over 5000 devices and another prospective client having over 15000 devices. Is there any way we can see the progress on the quota increase/initial quota requests and progress of the partner application or whether there is any other questions or concerns we can remediate to move forward? Its been a challenging week trying to manage our frustrated clients and really want to use the Android Management API and Android Enterprise much more in the future but the limitations are prohibiting us from doing so. Any assistance or perhaps someone we can contact would be appreciated.garethdavid3 months agoLevel 1.5: Cupcake79Views0likes0Comments
